I see the World, through the eyes of Music..!!

It’s a difficult job to get an exclusive story from a State Youth Festival venue as the place would be full of variety of talents put in together. Still, with confidence, we were wandering around in search of a story that would touch human hearts. We stopped our hunt and rushed towards the stage on the other side of the road when we a heard sweet classical music that was caught in our ears. It was Sruthy, the 13 year old student of Vattenad Govt. Vocational Higher Secondary School who was blind by birth, contesting for the Classical music competition, who then won 1st A grade.
She was happy to talk with us as she knew that there is somebody for her to share her interests with. Music is illuminating her life path for the past eight years and she lives in her own world where there is only music, but not visuals. Sruthy has always wondered how people read fast looking at a book when she listens to her brother reading out lessons for her. If she hears the sound of an aero plane, she runs to the courtyard and listen to the direction from where the sound comes from.  Sruthy, who is also excellent in studies was awarded The Helen Keller Award for the blind and has won the Kamukara foundation award for her marvelous singing twice. She’s blessed with a chance of participating in the Chembai Music Festival every year. Sruthy can identify the voice of any singer, her friends and relatives. Vidhu Prathap, the famous Malayalam play back singer is the one whom admires the most.
She has no complaints or wishes, she’s happy with all that she have. “I believe in the prayers of those who love me and that give me strength”, says Sruthy with smiles and tear filled eyes….!!!!

note: This is a news story which me and my friend vandana did for our news paper in college. we got this story from the state special school youth festival, which was held in palakkad about 2 years back.
